Residential HVAC Service Technician – Level 3

Position Summary: To provide maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of residential and commercial heating and air conditioning systems according to company standards providing the customer with a high-quality experience. Assist with training Service Technicians Entry Level – Level 2.
Required Qualifications / Achievements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Insurable driving record
- EPA 608 Certification
- NATE CORE + 1 Specialty or NFI Certification
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions as given
- Meet all qualifications and have all tools required for Service Technician Level 2
- Work from 28’ extension ladder and 12’ step ladder
- Ability to operate power and hand tools safely
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs on occasion
- Demonstrate willingness to invest in tools used in the service of HVAC equipment
- Demonstrate willingness to invest time in service training seminars and classes
- Demonstrate ability to perform routine preventative maintenance on residential system without assistance and supervision
- Demonstrate working knowledge of brazing and refrigeration procedure
- Demonstrate knowledge of service tools and testing devices
- Understand benefits of preventative maintenance
- Demonstrate advanced customer service skills and have ability to communicate clearly, ideas and explanation of problems to residential and commercial customers and coworkers
Desired Qualifications / Achievements
- HVAC Tech School Certificate and/or Equivalent Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Unrestricted Minnesota Driver’s License
- EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certified
- NATE + 1 Specialty or NFI Certification
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Arrive at jobsite at scheduled time and/ or locations as dispatched
- Relocate from one jobsite to another jobsite as dispatched during the workday
- Operate company vehicle as needed
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of proper interpretations of testing devices
- Demonstrated ability to brazing
- Follow instructions from supervisor and/or dispatcher and carry out in timely manner
- Report problems with company tools or vehicle promptly
- Report Problems with Equipment to Service Dispatcher to expedite parts delivery.
- Communicate with customer and collect C.O.D. on maintenance visits as directed.
- Always maintain professional appearance and attitude
- Inform and educate customers about residential planned maintenance agreements
- Inform and educate customers on additional products or services available through company
- Inform customer of replacement options following company guidelines.
- Provide all customers with new / renewal maintenance agreement program information
- Complete all service-related forms properly
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on residential equipment without supervision including completion of maintenance checklists in full
- Demonstrate enhanced customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to program thermostats
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and repair and a wide range of both residential and commercial HVAC Systems
- Demonstrate ability to perform maintenance and repairs on gas hearth appliances
- Demonstrate basic knowledge and ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to layout and install low voltage wiring
- Demonstrated skills to perform planned light commercial systems utilizing maintenance checklist without assistance.
- Develop basic knowledge of residential hydronic system
- Acquire residential planned maintenance agreements
- On call status for emergency service as required
- Other duties as assigned
